Job Description

As a Box Repair Technician specializing in medium and heavy-duty trucks, you will play a vital role in repairing, and restoring the bodies of commercial vehicles. Your expertise will be focused on various aspects of box repairs including but not limited to panel repair and welding.

Working with medium and heavy-duty trucks, you will ensure that these essential vehicles are structurally sound, aesthetically pleasing, and fully operational. Your attention to detail and dedication to quality craftsmanship will contribute to keeping fleets on the road and businesses running smoothly.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Box Assessment: Inspect and assess the condition of medium and heavy-duty truck boxes, identifying areas of damage, wear, and deterioration.
  • Frame Straightening: Utilize specialized equipment to assess and straighten box frames, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
  • Panel Replacement: Remove damaged panels and components, such as doors, roofs, and side panels, and replace them with new ones, ensuring a seamless fit and finish.
  • Welding and Fabrication: Perform welding and fabrication work to repair or replace box components, brackets, and supports.
  • Surface Preparation: Prepare surfaces for refinishing by sanding, grinding, filling, and priming, ensuring a smooth and even surface for painting.
  • Quality Control: Conduct thorough inspections of completed repairs to ensure they meet safety, quality, and appearance standards.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other technicians, mechanics, and team members to address interrelated repair tasks and ensure comprehensive solutions.
  • Adherence to Safety: Follow safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new repair techniques, and emerging technologies in medium and heavy-duty truck repairs.

Job Qualifications

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in medium and heavy-duty truck box repairs, including frame straightening, welding, and panel replacement.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in box repair for commercial vehicles, with a focus on medium and heavy-duty trucks.
  • Welding Skills: Considered an asset, including MIG and TIG welding, with the ability to work with various metals.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, visually appealing repairs.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose issues, assess damages, and determine appropriate repair strategies.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and customers.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
